On June 1, 2015, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) published “A Guide to Restroom Access for Transgender Workers.” This publication provides best practices and employer guidance regarding restroom access for transgender workers. The core principle of this guide is that all employees, including transgender employees, should have access to restrooms that correspond to their gender identity. Additionally, employees should not be asked to provide any medical or legal documentation of their gender identity in order to have access to gender-appropriate facilities.
